Make an Electric Guitar Cheaply

This article was posted by admin on May 24 2010

If you get excited about electric guitars, then you might be surprised to know that you can make your very own, great sounding electric guitar for under $20 (AU). Yes! It is possible! Some participants at The Workshop have created an electric guitar made out of styrafoam! It’s based on an ingenious design developed by CyberFeral (which is an Arts/Engineering Collective including Charles, The Workshop co-ordinator). By using ‘reclaimed’ (pre-loved) materials, and simple hand tools, you can make your own electric guitar. We can show you how! Check out some pictures of the styrafoam electric guitar in the photo gallery at facebook.com/reclaimers.

    We’ve set up a side group on Facebook of people who want to make these guitars in their own workshops and schools. You can find it at
    Guerrilla Guitar Makers
    There are also some technical drawings on Instructables;
